“If you don’t take the chance to live life, what can you say at the end of it.”  (N. Andrews)

There is one summer past time event that I never miss the opportunity to watch.  It’s the Relay Race at the Track and Field events.  Whether you are watching Long Distance Running, the 4×100 or the 4×400 race, there is immeasurable excitement.   There is something about watching the runners take off after the starter’s gun sounds off.  Spectators are filled with excitement and are moved to the edge of their seats as the runners come around the final stretch towards the finish line.  During one of these races, I noticed that  runners will use a specific set of energies to take off from the starter’s block and another set of energies to finish the race.  Later I learned from a coach that he teaches runners how to identify multiple skills that help them win the race.  The coach also said that runners who only have one source of energy usually run out of steam quickly.  It is the runner who knows how to dig deep and come up with the additional skills it takes to win the race.

In life the same is true.  We come across many people who start off strong due to an initial energy, but slow down quickly as a result of only having one source.  They lack the energy it takes to REALLY live life the way it was meant to be lived.  Life requires that you pull from many resources in order to succeed.  There are very few people who actually achieve this goal.  Let’s work together on helping you become one of the chosen few who actually lives the life you were meant to live!

You are given gifts and talents in order to succeed.   Early on you will identify some of those gifts and talents.  This will give you an initial success.  Sadly, many individuals stop after this initial discovery only to pause and remain in familiar and comfortable territory.  Here is a key: whenever you get comfortable you will slow down your movement.  Eventually, you may stop moving altogether.  The result is that when you are not moving you find other things to keep your attention.  As a result, you begin to celebrate the lives of others who have achieved success.  People like Oprah Winfrey, Tyler Perry, Bill Gates, and Will Smith are celebrated and idolized.  Now don’t get me wrong, these people have done amazing things, BUT not as much as YOU can do!  REAL living takes REAL work!  This type of LIVING is not out of reach for you!   You have the opportunity to REALLY live!  What does that take?  I am so glad you asked. (smile)

You must go back to the excavation trip you initially started and begin identifying the talents that are lying dormant in your life.  As you begin to identify what you can do, you will begin to identify what you can do with them.  If we are honest, some of you are trapped working corporate positions where you are making good money, but it doesn’t inspire you.  The truth is that you were meant to inspire and minister to hurting women.  Some of you are living your life through the lives of your children, never really identifying your hidden gift of writing.  You have a book buried inside of you that needs to be shared with the world.  Others have business ideas buried inside of them that can solve major problems in the world.  The goal is for you to identify these gifts so that you can REALLY begin to live your life!

I was once told that it was selfish to not use the gifts assigned to me.  I have found this to be true.  I realize that as I discover more talents, the more I plug into REALLY living.  I encourage you to do the same.  As Iyanla Vanzant suggests, let’s unpack your “Un’s”: Unhealthy, Unworthy, Uninspired.  I suggest you activate your “Re’s”: Re-activated, Re-energized, Re-motivated.  Shake the dust off those buried talents because you have a life that REALLY needs to be lived.
