Sunday, May 27, 2012, Emily Amy Art Gallery, Atlanta, GA -

O’ Ministries, led by founder Octavia “Minister O” Samuels, held a charitable event and book signing at the Emily Amy Art Gallery in Atlanta to benefit the REnew Academic Success Program. Minister O launched her new book and DVD “Words of His Mouth: Journal to Purpose” .

The REnew Academic Success Program is a 501(c) (3) which seeks to change the lives of children by helping them to utilize their potential and move toward success in college and entrepreneurship. The “Renew” Program is an academic success initiative and the goal is to help children excel in their educational endeavors by changing the way they describe themselves (self-concept) and evaluate themselves (self-esteem).

The program begins with a makeover experience that gives new and used clothing donated by celebrities, fashion designers and fashion labels to middle and high school children from disadvantaged communities and backgrounds. To be eligible, students must have maintained an A-average in school despite adversity. We provide pre-college services, assistance with college enrollment, college tours, and a variety of developmental activities that will help the students grow in their decision making and communication skills. The REnew program seeks to restore our communities by ensuring the education of our children. REnew will launch in DeKalb County and Atlanta Public Schools. All donations will benefit the children and the success of the program.

The event was held at the Emily Amy Gallery in Atlanta, Georgia. The setting was intimate and filled with live entertainment including talented artists such as poet Abyss, musical groups Water Seed and Dukes of DaVille, self-proclaimed GLAMsoul star Miranda Nicole, spoken word artist Tommy Bottoms, singers TeenWolfe (Joel Romirre) and CanDyse Jones, comedian Anthony Shackelford and many others. The event also included silent auctions, raffles, an exquisite table of heavy hors d’oeuvres and networking opportunities.
Throughout the evening, Minister O signed several books and posed for pictures with her many supporters.
